Miriam J. Ashe, 87, of Hampstead, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at the Brightwood Genesis Care, Lutherville. Born Feb. 28, 1917, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lucy Hannah Yaste Joynes.

Mrs. Ashe retired in 1979 from Equitable Trust Bank. She enjoyed traveling, having visited most of the 50 states. She also collected antiques.
She was a graduate of Western High School and Baltimore Business College.

She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church, most recently Salem United Methodist Church, Hampstead, where she served in many capacities. She also participated in various community activities, including the Christian Women's Club, Bible studies and the Prettyboy Senior Center.

Surviving are son Steven L. Ashe; daughter and son-in-law Linda A. and Paul Cross; grandchildren Kirk Ashe and wife Stephanie, Kristen Johnson and husband Dale, Paul William Cross Jr., Cherish Cross and Timothy Cross; and great-granddaughter Blaze Johnson.
