Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo with Lynn Camp officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mary Lou was born April 6, 1937, in Wills Point and passed away with her family by her side on Dec. 5, 2009, in Athens, Greece. She graduated from Wills Point High School and Texas Eastern School of Nursing. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from West Texas State University.

She met the love of her life, Raymond Leslie Harper, on a blind date in Austin. They were married on Oct. 3, 1959, and moved to Amarillo, where Mary Lou began her nursing career with Northwest Texas Hospital. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and took a cruise to the Mediterranean.

Mary Lou was a constant and loving force in the lives of her family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. Many of her favorite times were spent with her family in Taos, N.M., on ski trips and summer vacations. She was a devoted Elvis fan and visited Graceland on several occasions with her friends. Mary Lou never met a stranger in her travels and always returned home with a wealth of stories and new friends.

Mary Lou cherished her work, friends and co-workers at Northwest Texas Hospital. She considered everyone at the hospital her family, and she appreciated the opportunity to be part of such a caring community. Throughout the years, Mary Lou practiced nursing in pediatrics, labor and delivery, neonatal intensive care and administration. To everyone who worked around and with her at NWTH, please know that she held each of you in high esteem and was very proud of the healing and care provided to patients at NWTH.

Mary Lou and her husband have been members of Southwest Church of Christ for 34 years. Her church family also was very dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Howard Jordan and Ludie Ella Jordan.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Leslie Harper; a sister, Peggy Sue Jordan Wieland of Terrell; her beloved children, Stacey Lynn Harper and husband Danny Paul Harris of Amarillo, Stephanie Luan Harper and husband Michael Jerome Friemel of Groom and Scott Leslie Harper and wife Ann Tutoky Harper of Dallas: her grandchildren, Whitney Jordan Harris, Landon Grant Harris, Michael Brett Friemel, William Myles Friemel and Austin Cole Friemel; and her nieces and nephews.
