David O. Jones, 74, of Pottsville, passed away Monday morning at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, Norriton, with his family by his side.
Born in Pottsville, Sept. 9, 1938, he was a son of the late Owen J. and Helen R. McGovern Jones.
He was a graduate of the first graduating class of Nativity BVM in 1956 and proudly served his country in the Navy.
Dave was employed as a banking VP at Pennsylvania National Bank, which later became Keystone Financial for 35 years, and later at Leesport Bank for 5 years, retiring in 2005. He was also a dedicated and caring funeral assistant at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc. for the last several years, where he was a great asset to the staff. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed!
He was past president of the Pottsville Jaycees and the Anthracite Chapter of American Institute of Banking; a past officer of Rotary Little League and Pottsville Midget Football League; a life member of the Yorkville Hose; and also, was one of the Pottsville Football Chain Gang for 37 years.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a sister, Suzanne Helen Rowan.
