Tremonton-Evelyn Jones Borup died without a complaint, Sunday April 20, 2014, of complications incident to age. She returned home to her Heavenly Father, her husband, Don, and many loving family members. She was born to Joseph Lewis and Gracie Clair Jones September 6, 1924, in Emmett, ID.
She graduated from Glenns Ferry High as Valedictorian. During WW ll she worked at Hill Field AFB in their IBM (computer) department. She moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1945 working for Morrison Knudson Company. She met and married Don Jenkins Borup in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 17, 1946. They started their life in the grocery business with Don's brother Carl, with a small store, Roosevelt Market, in Boise, ID. They moved to Tremonton, UT in 1964 in an effort to not work on Sunday and it grew to Carl and Don's stores throughout Utah and Idaho.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions in Relief Society, Young Women, Primary, Family History/Extraction and as a missionary with Don in the Ohio Cleveland Mission, 1984-1985.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Utah Retail Grocers Assoc. and the Tremonton Women's Civic League, where she was named "Mother of the Year" in 1991.
She was devoted to the Lord, her husband and her daughters, supporting them in everything they did. We all relied on her wisdom and knowledge of the gospel, education, finances, family and life skills; including cooking, cleaning, gardening, and sewing. She enjoyed traveling around the world with Don and going on temple trips with her daughters, and having her family around. Her birthday slumber parties are legendary. She never spoke ill of anyone and always did what was right. She was always happy to be the worker bee in the background, never needing attention.
Surviving are her six daughters and their spouses: Jan and Gerald Davenport, Karen and Rex Earl and Tracy and Brad Gardner of Tremonton; Donna and Dennis Snarr of Roberts, ID, Denise and Daryl Flamm of Farmington, UT, Kathy and Mark A Anderson of Wellsville, UT; 28 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is her sister Lois (Lavar) Ward, sister-in-laws MaryLou Jones and Jane Amoureux.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Wayne and Gordon and 5 sisters, Dorothea Jones, Vera McQueen, Gwendlyn Nutting, Helen Brumble, and Norma Murray.
Funeral services will be held Friday April 25, 2014, at 11:00 am in the Tremonton South Stake Center, 1150 S. Tremont St., Tremonton, UT. A viewing will be held Thursday April 24, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and Friday April 25, 2014 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. both at the Tremonton South Stake Center. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton, UT.
