Nadine Marie Bonnett, 89, Topeka, died Monday, April 5, 1999, at a Topeka retirement center.

She was born Aug. 1, 1909, in Topeka, to James Allen and Lucy Jane Foster Jones. She gave piano lessons for many years and was the pianist and organist at Highland Park United Methodist Church for 50 years before she retired in 1975. She also served as organist for Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for 25 years.

She was a member of United Methodist Women and past president of the Woman's Society for Christian Service at Highland Park United Methodist where she was named organist emeritus in 1989.

Mrs. Bonnett was a member and past president of the Topeka Civic Music Club and had been named church musician of the year at the Music Club's state convention in 1980. She had served as president of the Topeka Music Teachers Association and a member of the Topeka chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She was named in Who's Who Among Church Musicians.

She married Farley R. Bonnett on Dec. 21, 1929, in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include a son, Denis C. Bonnett, Hilton Head, S.C.; a daughter, Deanna K. Schlegel, Bella Vista, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Ransdell, Wichita; five granddaughters and two great- grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Bonnett will lie in state after noon today at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Funeral Home.
