M. LaRue Joiner, of Greensboro, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011, at the Memorial Hospital in Easton, Md. Born on September 5, 1918, she was 93 years old.

She was born in Wehrum, Pa., the daughter of the late, Frank Crain and Alma Siegfried Crain. Her husband of 68 years, Howard F. Joiner, died April 23, 2008.

Coming from Pennsylvania, Mrs. Joiner had lived in Caroline County for 65 years. For many years, she was a Librarian for the Caroline County Public Library in Denton, Md.

She was a member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary, the VFW Memorial Post 7937 Auxiliary, and the St. James Hobby Club. She and her husband were members of the DE. Camping Association and they were Charter Members of the Choptank River Yacht Club in Denton. She attended the Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg, Md.

Mrs. Joiner is survived by her daughter, Betty J. Ballas of Greensboro; she is also survived by four grandchildren, Pamela Todd Wise and her husband Randy, Lisa Todd Szewczyk and her husband Ed, Scott R. Todd and his wife Cathie Jo, and Steve A. Ballas and his wife Wanda; four great-grandchildren, Jason Wise, Jessie Wise, Rachael Cartwright and her husband Greg, and Kendall Szewczyk; and one great great-grandchild, Abigail Porter. She was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Crain.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2011, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street in Denton, where friends may call from 1 until 2 p.m. before the service.

Interment will be in the Denton Cemetery. The family requests for memorial donations to be sent to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
