Bertha E. Craver, 99, of Winchester passed away early Tuesday morning (September 10, 2002) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield. She was born September 19, 1902 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of the late Paul A. and Bertha Eloise Nugent Johnstone. She married Charles C. Craver Jr. in Kansas City. He preceded her in death March 10, 1979.

Survivors include her son Charles C. Craver III of Winchester and 2 nephews Ted Johnstone of Chicago, and Ted Papenfuss of Berkley, California. Also preceding her in death were 2 brothers Ted and Paul Johnstone and a sister Emma Jean Papenfuss.

She graduated from high school in Kansas City; she attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, and graduated from William Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri with a BA in English Literature. Mrs. Craver was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, the Winchester United Methodist Church, PEO for over 60 years and the O.Henryettas, a Literary Society.

Services were entrusted to Coonrod Funeral Home of Winchester, Illinois.
