Mrs. Gertrude C. Johnson of New Iberia, LA passed peacefully after a brief illness on December 12, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was born June 5, 1940 in New Iberia to James and Lucille Charles. She leaves to mourn her husband of 42 years, Jay Johnson; also two children, June Davis and Roy Williams; she also leaves 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; a brother James Grays of Alexandria, LA

At the time of her passing Mrs. Johnson was a housewife and enjoyed spending time fishing and gardening, but especially enjoyed hours and hours sitting on the porch with family and friends. Her infectious laughter and joking will be sorely missed by those close to her.

The family will adhere to her wishes and hold a brief service in her remembrance. Friends and family are welcome to attend services at Fletcher Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 time of service will be 3:00 p.m., followed by burial at St. Matthew Cemetery in New Iberia, LA.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by both her parents, James and Lucille Charles; a sister, Victoria Flugence; and a brother Earl Green.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jonathan Williams, Kevin Williams, John Davis, Derrell Lightfoot, Jonathan Lightfoot and Trynyti Johnson
