HAYSI - Margaret Juanita Johnson Carpenter, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Lucy Carr Village, Chesterfield, Va.
She was born in Dante and was a resident of Haysi from 1937. She owned and operated Haysi Theater. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Margaret Sparks Johnson. She was a member of Haysi Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Stuart Carpenter; one son, Carroll Carpenter; and one daughter, Myra Vernon Carpenter.
She is survived by one daughter, Jane Dunnavant of Richmond; one son, Charles Stuart Carpenter of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with the Rev. Jim Viers officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
