Amos Granville "Papaw" Johnson 82 died Wednesday April 18, 2012. Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM Saturday April 21, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma. Burial with military honors will follow at 4:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne, Texas.

Amos was born to Granville and Ruby Johnson on May 7, 1929 in Godley, Texas and married the love of his life Doris Jean Thacker on June 23, 1950. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Along with his loving wife; they owned and operated cottages in Brookside Cottages and Resort in Estes Park, Colorado for 20 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and a loving husband of 62 years. He has dedicated his life to his church having taught the men's Sunday school class and chairman of the deacons until his health began to decline. Papaw loved his Lord with all of his heart. He was an avid fisherman and loved deer hunting. He loved and cherished his wife Doris and absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Amos is survived by his wife of 62 years Doris Jean Johnson of Coahoma; sons: Mike Johnson and wife Kathy of Hallettsvile, Texas; Kelly Johnson and wife Jessica of Baird, Texas; grandchildren: Kathy Wright and husband Jon Tod of Rodgers, Arkansas, Diane Grill and husband Andy of Little Elm, Texas, Bethany White and husband Jason of Clyde, Texas, Kris Johnson and wife Shayla of Harker Heights, Texas, Alyssa Wagley and husband L.Z. of Clyde, Texas, Melanie Ashlock and husband Aaron of Abilene; great grandchildren: Brantley Wright, Payton Wright, Ireland Grill, Dylan Grill, Emma White, Aiden White and Ashton Ashlock; two sisters: Charlotte Rhoades of Cleburne, Texas and Francis James of Abilene, Texas.

Pallbearers are his special grandsons and grand sons-in-law; Jon Tod Wright, Andy Grill, Jason White, Kris Johnson, L.Z. Wagley and Aaron Ashlock.
