BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Selma E. Hoem, 78, of 1311 Tyler St., Black River Falls, died on Saturday, May 28, 1994, in the Family Heritage Nursing Home in Black River Falls where she had been a resident since March 17, 1993.

Selma E. Johnson was born on April 3, 1916, in the town of Springfield in Jackson County to Julius and Clara (Kolden) Johnson. She was raised in the town of Springfield. She married Archie Hoem on June 17, 1936, in Winona, Minn. The couple lived their entire married lives in the town of Springfield. Her husband preceded her in death on March 15, 1993. Following his death, she moved to the nursing home. Selma was a member of the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church in rural Taylor where she was a member of the Ladies Aide.

She is survived by three sons, Allen (Renae) Hoem of Rochester, Minn., Arthur (Camille) Hoem and Steven Hoem both of Black River Falls; three daughters, Barbara (Ammet) Peterson of Tomah, Bonnie (John) Burdick of Winona, Minn., and Sharon (Bert) Van Treese of New Lisbon; three sisters, Ruth Larson of Eau Claire, Hazel Severson of Black of Black River Falls and Emma Stevens of Taylor; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services for Selma E. Hoem will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Squaw Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Calvin Thoreson will officiate. Burial will be in the Upper Beaver Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Taylor. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, in Torgerson's Funeral Chapel and at the church from noon until the time of services Tuesday.
