Linda Sue DeVuyst, age 58, of Sumner, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma. Linda was born Aug. 9, 1950, in Lansing, the daughter of John and Fannie (Walker) Johnson. After her mother's death, Linda was raised by her father and stepmother, Freida Johnson, and her aunt and uncle, Joe and Marian Walker. She grew up in Lansing, and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1969. She married Roger DeVuyst in Edgewood on Jan. 10, 1970. She was a dedicated, loving nurse for over 38 years. Linda loved to read; go shopping, especially at garage sales and flea markets; spending time with her children and grandchildren; and traveling to Yellowstone, Hawaii, and Disney World.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roger; her son, Joseph (Shannon) DeVuyst; three daughters, Jennifer (Mark) Freed, Jodi Wentz (Rick Kleinhans), and Jamie (Benjamin) Loving; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Derik, Ashley, Abigail, Tyler, Nick, Joe, and baby Loving due in January; her brothers and sisters, Clate Johnson, John Johnson, Leo Johnson, Theresa (Richard) Sova, Mary (Mike) Marek, Lisa (Arnie) Terrell, and Ruth Ann (John) Visser; her brother-in-law, Bernard (Linda) DeVuyst; her sister-in-law, Sharon (Dave) Biggs; her mother-in-law, Florence DeVuyst; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bradley. She was preceded in death by her mother, Fannie Johnson; her father and stepmother, John and Frieda Johnson; her aunt and uncle, Joe and Marian Walker; her son, Jason DeVuyst; her daughter, Angela; an infant child; her father-in-law, Arshane DeVuyst; and her sister-in-law, Lisa Johnson.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with the Rev. George Showers officiating. Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery.
