BLACK RIVER FALLS - Alice I. Johnson, 91, of Black River Falls died Wednesday morning, Oct. 22, 2008, at Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls.
Alice was born May 18, 1917, in Merrillan to Oscar and Emma (Monson) Rickard. She was raised in Merrillan, and she graduated from Merrillan High School. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis. She married Elmo Johnson in Decorah, Iowa, on July 15, 1938. The couple lived their entire married lives in Black River Falls. Elmo preceded Alice in death on July 20, 2007. Alice worked as a hairdresser at Dorothy's Beauty Shop, and she worked at Palms Supper Club. She was a member of the Black River Falls Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Hanson of Black River Falls and Brenda (Ron) Hanson of Hatfield; her seven grandchildren and their families, Alisa (Scott) Brons and Corey and Samantha, Jennifer (Mike) Deutschmann and Zack, Jake and Luke, Melissa (Erik) Bo-Hansen and Molly, Carly and Gunnar, Paul (Marni) Hanson and Max, Ben and Jake, Matt (Carrie) Hanson and Grace and Julia, Amy (Kevin) Fay and Madelyn and Riley, and Beth (Rob) Hakes and Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arthur, Harlow and Giles Rickard; a sister-in-law and her husband, Avis and Donald Biggar; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Duane and Hilda Johnson.
There will be no visitation.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls.
Torgerson's Funeral Service in Black River Falls (715-284-4321) is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family prefers memorials to either the Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Patient Fund at Pine View Care Center.
