DEAN BRENT JOHNSEN TREMONTON - Dean Brent Johnsen, 64, passed away at the Bear River Valley Hospital on January 18, 2004.

He was born on June 16, 1939, in Bear River City the son of Vernon LeRoy and Wanda Jensen Johnsen.

He married Marcia Ann Stohl on February 11, 1960, in the Logan LDS Temple.

He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1957. He earned a Master's Degree in Math from Utah State University. He taught at Bear River High School for 35 years and also taught at the USU Brigham Extension. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including: High Councilman, Bishop, Stake President Counselor and many years with the Young Men and Scouting Program. At the time of his death, he was Varsity Scout Coach in the Tremonton Sixth Ward. His scouting awards consist of District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. He enjoyed farming with his Dad in Bear River City and lived in Tremonton all of his married life. He had a beautiful singing voice and was asked to sing at many functions. He also enjoyed singing in many quartets.

Surviving are his wife; his mother; his daughter, Teriann (Tom) Hanks of Bear River City; his son, Travis Dean Johnsen of Clinton; his son-in-law, John (Shelisa) Loertscher; nine grandchildren: Tawni Hanks (serving in Georgia Atlanta North Mission), Tangi (Coby) Reese, Spencer and Skye Hanks, Quincy, Alex, Collin, Rhyse, and Grace Loertscher.

Also surviving are his two brothers, J. Roger (LaRae) Johnsen of Ogden and V. Lloyd (Faye) Johnsen of Oak Harbor, WA.

He was preceded in death by his father and two daughters, Teresa Loertscher and Tamette Johnsen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, at the Tremonton Sixth Ward church located at 660 North 300 East, Tremonton. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, January 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home located at 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and also on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the General Missionary fund of the LDS church. Condolences may be expressed at
