She was a member and attended services at First Indian Baptist Church of Brighton.

Agnes Johns Bert, age 75, passed away on November 30, 2012 at Raulerson Hospital, Okeechobee, FL. Mrs. Bert was born October 22, 1937 to her late parents Barfield Johns and Susie Girtman and was a lifetime resident of the Brighton Reservation, Okeechobee. Before retiring, Mrs. Bert was a nurse's aid at the Brighton Medical Clinic and had taught language and tribal culture to many on the reservation. She was a member and attended services at First Indian Baptist Church of Brighton.
Mrs. Bert is survived by her loving children, Reese Bert, Sr. (Angie), Pernell Bert (Nadine), Avalon Puente (Eric), all of Brighton; her step-daughter Virginia Bert Mitchell of Big Cypress; dear brother and sisters, Archie Johns (Sandra) of Sebring; Billy Johns (Mary) of Big Cypress, Alice Sweat (Buddy)of Brighton, Jennie Johns of Brighton, and Leoda Poole of Brighton. She is also survived by 19 Grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild; 13 Great Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Mrs. Bert is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert Bert; two brothers, Hosea Girtman, and Oscar Johns; two sisters, Lois Johns Smith, and Maude Frank.
Service and Visitation will be Monday, December 3, 2012 from 10am to 12pm at the First Indian Baptist Church of Brighton; Pastor Matt Tiger officiating.
