Grace Johansen Agnew, age 86, of Roosevelt, formerly of Altonah, died January 14, 2009 at the Basin Care Center and Senior Villa in Roosevelt.
She was born Feb. 14, 1922 in Altonah to Leo and Lillie Snyder Johansen.
She married Maynard C. Agnew Nov. 20, 1942 in Salt Lake City.
Grace grew up in Altonah and moved to Salt Lake City and worked in the Arms plant during the war. There she met and married Maynard and other than a few years in Altonah they lived in Salt Lake City. The last six years they moved back to this area and lived on Blue Bench north of Duchesne.
Grace was a waitress for many years for various restaurants including Little America and Log Haven in the Salt Lake City area. She was "wonder woman" for all she could accomplish. She could do anything that she put her mind to. She was careful about her appearance and always had her hair done. Her enjoyment was work, she was a meticulous house keeper, kept the laundry done up and did a lot of work in her yard, and always looked nice doing them.
She is survived by her husband, Maynard, of Roosevelt; daughter, Nerine (David) Lyon, Manteca, Calif.; son, James D. Agnew, Roosevelt; 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a brother, Rex Johansen, Washington State.
She was preceded in death by a grandchild, David Edward Brother; sister, Arda Ames, and brother, Robert Ray Johansen.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 19, at the Hullinger Mortuary.
Burial was in the Altonah Cemetery
