Beatrice Jessop Carroll, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield.
She was born February 23, 1903 in Millville, Utah to Ephraim and Sylvia Jessop. She married Casper George Carroll on July 26, 1947 in Logan; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Beatrice was a teacher, counselor and educator. Her first and continued interest has always been people. She was a popular speaker on problems in education, social behavior, women's issues and travel. She was also active in AAUW, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Democratic Party.
During World War II, she lived in Los Angeles and left her teaching career to work at Douglas Aircraft. At the end of the war, she returned to Utah and became Asst. Field Director for the American Red Cross at Kearns Air Field.
In 1946, she became the first and only Dean of Girls at Davis High School. In 1968, she was sent to South Africa as an exchange educator. She has traveled extensively worldwide with her husband, Cap.
As a writer, she has published magazine articles and poetry. She wrote a novel, "Maybe Tomorrow," which was published in 1991. Bea earned two degrees at Utah State University, Bachelors in English and Masters in Sociology.
She is survived by a sister, Gladys McPhee, Williamsport, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Cap; brothers, Rutherford, Donald and Howard.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997, at 12 noon, at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Millville City Cemetery.
