Mrs. Jean Forbis, age 78 of Portland, TN., passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, NY. Mrs. Forbis was born November 3, 1937 in Portland, TN. the daughter of the late Porter and Fannie Jernigan.
Mrs. Forbis is survived by her son, Bobby Forbis Jr. (Lutricia) of Cottontown, TN. A daughter, Melody Masaitis of Massapequa, NY. Four grandchildren, Kecia Renee Lassiter, Bobby Gene Forbis III, Kevin Michael Forbis and Brooke Marie Masaitis Six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Forbis was a member of First Baptist Church in Portland, TN and a former Strawberry Festival Queen. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Forbis Sr. A son, Kevin Michael Forbis and a brother, William Jernigan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, September 12, 2016 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Garden in Franklin, KY. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday and from 9:00 AM until service time Monday at Gilbert Funeral Home.
