Born May 12, 1935, in Java, Va., she was a daughter of the late Hubert (Dick) Jennings and Lena Brown Jennings.
She had lived in the Greenacres community most of her life. She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, where the fellowship hall was named in honor of her and her husband.
She was married to Howard Addison Barksdale for 54 years. He died Jan. 15, 2005.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy B. Hall of Ringgold; two sons, William A. Barksdale of Sutherlin and Jeffery S. Barksdale of Amelia; three sisters, Francis Crews of Gretna, Mary Dalton of Hayes and Lora Shelton of Newport News; a brother, Carroll Jennings of Java; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 7 step-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by a brother, Robert William Jennings.
The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Cleon Ross officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Christ Episcopal Church, prior to the service.
The family suggests that donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4501 Starkey Road, SW, Suite 115, Roanoke, VA 24014 or to the Christ Episcopal Church.
