ELIZA ODELL JENNING BLEDSOE
13 Apr 1913 - 7 Apr 2011

The heart of our family, Eliza Odell Jennings Bledsoe, passed from this life on Thursday, April 7, 2011, six days before her 98th birthday.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Robert Walker and Nevada McClellan Jennings, infant brother, Ivan; her husband of 70 plus years, Benjamin E. Bledsoe, son, Richard Bledsoe, granddaughter, Armen Elizabeth Combs, brother, Hansel Jennings, and sister, Pearl Price. Odell was the last surviving spouse of the last survivor of the 15 children of Enoch and Helene Bledsoe.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Billie Jo Mustaklem, Phyllis (Les) Burke, David (Faye) Bledsoe, Tommy (Joy) Bledsoe, Larry (Genie) Bledsoe, Debra (Mark Cochran) Livingston and Melissa (Bob) Turner. Also, surviving are 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Further survivors include her sisters, Della Harrell, Imogene Linkus, Barbara Ann (Glen) Quillen), brothers, Claude (Rosie) Jennings and Patrick (Mary) Jennings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Our mother once commented that all she wanted to be in her life was a mother. We mourn our loss, but rejoice knowing she achieved her ambition and set a high standard of excellence with her performance. To quote from a Sampler she once had "To know her is to love her and love her but forever, for God did make her what she is and never made such another."

We extend heartfelt thanks to Ona Poole for her love, care and devotion; to Dr. Robert Funke for his compassion and care and to the Charles J. Good family for their daily helpfulness.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM., in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services with Reverend Bob Underwood and Reverend Jerry Williams will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Oak Hill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in the Garden of the Last Supper.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to Morrison City Christian Church, c/o Pastor Bob Underwood, where she attended as long as her health permitted.
