BELLEVUE, Neb. | Virginia Gail Jenkins Lewiston, 56, of Bellevue, Neb., died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at Hospice House in Omaha, Neb. Although she was a non-smoker, she had lung cancer for three years.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 9, at New Beginnings Worship Center in Bellevue by Pastor Rory Cobbs. Interment was in Bellevue Cemetery.

Born Feb. 26, 1952, in Lexington, N.C., Gail graduated from West Davidson High School in 1970 and Davidson County Community College in 1972.

She loved children, especially her grandchildren, and handcrafts, such as crocheting, tatting, knitting and cross-stitch. She was a homemaker and a member of New Beginnings Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Cadell Jenkins, in 1985; grandparents Carl Franklin Wrenn, Bessie Owen Wrenn and Bessie Hardon Jenkins, all of Lexington, and Edward Kyle Jenkins of Virginia; and a brother, Carl Wesley Jenkins in 1980.

She is survived by her husband, Ted Lewiston; sons Dan and his wife, Jen, of Memphis, Tenn., and Philip and Nathaniel, both of the home; her mother, Elsie Mae Wrenn Jenkins of Lexington; two grandchildren, Isaiah and Isabella Lewiston of Memphis; sisters Barbara and her husband, Roy Byerly, and Debbie and her husband, Tim Williams, all of Lexington; and a nephew, Kris Jenkins of Lexington.

The family received friends Sunday, Feb. 8, at Bellevue Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to New Beginnings Worship Center, 2231 Jefferson St., Bellevue, NE 68005, for the Gail Lewiston Memorial Fund in support of missions.
