Jeanette was born on October 8, 1925, on the Henry Foot farm, Union Township, Fayette, Iowa, the daughter of Hazel (Foot) and Walter Herman Theodore Jarchow. She attended country school near Hawkeye, the same school her father attended growing up. Jeanette also attended school in Dubuque, Randalia, Hawkeye, West Union and graduated from Fayette High School. She then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette. Following her graduation, Jeanette moved with her parents to help her father farm at Waverly Junction, since it was war time and both her brothers were in the service.

Jeanette was confirmed and joined the Fayette Methodist Church and transferred her membership to the Janesville Methodist Church in 1945.

On August 24,1946, Jeanette married Edwin Fred Vossberg at Janesville United Methodist Church. The couple lived on the Vossberg farm west of Janesville until Edwin passed away in September of 1988. In March of 1989, Jeanette purchased a home at 830 South Main, Janesville.

Jeanette joined Shamrock Rebekah Lodge 296 in 1947, where she served as Financial Secretary for 18 years, and Recording Secretary for 31 years. She was a Sunday school teacher for 43 years, and a longtime member of Janesville United Methodist Women. She served as UMW president in 1956 and was named Woman of the Year in 1982. She also served as secretary to that group for many years. She served on many committees and helped plan and serve meals at the State Trap Shoot each year since 1958. She served as secretary on the Finance and Administrative Council of the church for many years. Jeanette served as one of the 4-H leaders of the Jacksonettes 4-H Club for 26 years, and as a 4-H judge for the Bremer County Fair and other fairs for many years. She was selected as a Friend of Extension of Bremer County in 1986. She also received other awards for her work in 4-H, and was also a charter member of the Good Neighbor Club. Jeanette liked to read and kept a daily journal. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking, which was always from scratch. She was known for her wonderful cakes, cookies and pies!
