Avilla - Mailyn Sue Armstrong, age 61, died on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 1:30 PM at her home in Avilla.
She was born on January 21, 1949 in Tell City, Indiana and was the daughter of Arnold E. and Daulee (Richey) Jarboe.
She graduated from Southside High School in Fort Wayne in 1967 and recieved from Indiana University a bachelor's degree in Sociology.
Marilyn and her husband, Robert were married on November 22, 1969 in Fort Wayne and came to the Avilla area ten years ago, coming from St. Joe. She was a Sales Supervisor at Nucor Fastener in St. Joe and retired from there in 2004.
She was a very active member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla where she was the President of the United Methodist Women's Group. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, embroidery, traveling and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Survivng are her husband, Robert L. Armstrong of Avilla. Two daughters and son in laws, Sara and Scott Vitz of Leo and Susan and Curtis Lohr of Avilla.
Six grandchildren, Austin and Logan Wood, Katelyn and Drew Meyer, and Aidan and Gaven Vitz.
Her father, Arnold Jarboe of Fort Wayne.
Two sisters, Carole Cullen of Crossville, TN, and Kris Green of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are her brothers, Edward Jarboe of Lebanon, TN, John Jarboe of Norman, Oklahoma, and Jack Jarboe of Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Daulee Jarboe.
Funeral services for Mrs. Armstrong will be on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Leonard King will officiate.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 to 8 PM at Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel. Visitation is also one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
Burial will follow at the Avilla Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Scott Vitz, Curtis Lohr, Logan Wood, James Felger, Len Felger and Brian Jarboe.
Memorials may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Women's Group, Eve's Circle.
