Clara Mae Moultrie Jackson, age 89, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin.
Clara Mae Jackson was born in Greenville, Ga., to the late Clyde Calvert Moultrie and Mettie Watts Moultrie. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Japeth Harvey Jackson; babies, J. Wayne Jackson and Clara Joyce Jackson; brothers, William Moultrie, and Joseph Moultrie; and sisters, Josephine Backes and Jeanette Martin.
Clara Jackson worked as a secretary prior to marriage. She served as the Clayton County PTA president for a number of years. She lived in McDonough for a number of years before moving to Monticello in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Janette) Jackson of Barnesville, Susan (James) Maloy of Steinhatchee, Fla., Debbie Carmichael of Locust Grove, and Howard (Terri) Jackson of Zebulon; grandchildren, Debbie Ray, Mark Brooks, Ginger Jackson, Tracy Taylor, Abby Maloy, Angela Goetz, Matthew Goetz, Nick Jackson, Derek Jackson, Bailey Nieves and Nick Nieves; and 15 great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Monticello Baptist Church. Interment will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2017, in the College Park Cemetery 3600 Adams Street, College Park, Ga. Dr. Robert Whitmire will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at the Monticello Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, prior to the service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Jackson, Derek Jackson, Matthew Goetz, James Maloy, Jackson Taylor and Bob Taylor.
