Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church for Mrs. Carole Gignilliat Jackson, 71, of Gainesville. Mrs. Jackson died Monday, May 23, 2005 at NEGMC following an accident. The Rev. Don Harrison and Rev. Doug Dailey will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Mrs. Jackson was a native of Atlanta and had lived in Gainesville for 41 years. She was a graduate of Barrett School of Nursing in Augusta, earned a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Brenau University in Gainesville and received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia. She was an accomplished artist who established the first Art Program at Gainesville College, and participated in art shows and juried exhibitions. She had a keen interest in genealogy and was a direct descendant of the first swiss citizen to immigrate to this country, French Huguenot Jean Francois de Gignilliat. Mrs. Jackson is preceded in death by her parents, John Trezevant Gignilliat and Alma Lee Sinclair Gignilliat. She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Jackson, M.D. of Gainesville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne J. and Dominick J. Masciantonio of Kennesaw and Jennifer J. and Richard G. Stiles, M.D. of Stone Mountain. Mrs. Jackson is also survived by two sisters, Elaine Gignilliat of Marietta and Doris Gignilliat of Atlanta; beloved granddaughters: Elise, Catherine, Caroline, and Rachel; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. Mrs. Jackson was an avid supporter of the Humane Society of Hall County. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Hall County, 845 West Ridge Road, Gainesville, GA 30501.
