Hattie Jackson, 99, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Westridge Healthcare. She was born April 21, 1909, in Brula, Miss., to Ether Walker and Melissa Bryant Walker. Hattie was a retired chef from the Merrill K. Cohen Café in Indianapolis. She had been a member of St. Mark's Church in Indianapolis. Survivors include her devoted granddaughter, Michelene Martin; a son, Robert Underwood of Miami Fla.; grandsons, Jonnie Underwood, Roosevelt Brown and Anthony Underwood; great-grandchildren, James Harris, Atu Underwood, Antonio Martin, Jonnie Underwood Jr., Deangelio Underwood, and Melvin Brown; several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death are her husband, Ethan Jackson; her daughter, Lilly Underwood; and a brother, Jonny Walker.
