Portia Elaine was born in Waco, Texas, to Eddie W. and Lonnie B. Jackson. She was a graduate of Waco High School, class of 1979, and Baylor University, class of 1983. Portia was blessed with a son, William "W.T." Taylor, and with twins, Phylicia and Phillip. She was employed with Scott & White Hospital as a registered nurse and as one of the youngest charge nurses in the field of Pediatrics. Portia was a member of Pleasant Olive Baptist Church for over 30 years. She served in the Junior Usher Ministry, and also sang in the Sanctuary Choir with a very melodious voice.
She is survived by her children, William Taylor, Phylicia Jackson and Phillip Jackson, all of Waco; her adopted children, Marissa and Britnee Bates and Dawn Bruschi, all of Waco; granddaughter, Jamiah Johnson; adopted grandchildren, Eniyah and Jay'lon Tatum, Zaria Miles, and Kaleb Bruschi, all of Waco; sisters, Doris Laverne Hardwick and husband, Rev. John, of El Paso, and Sarah Pimpton and husband, Alvin, of Aurora, Colo.; brother, Ronald Wayne Jackson, of Waco; aunt, Dorothy Scrubbs, of Sacramento, Calif.; great-aunt, Eva Barefield, of Tyler; devoted cousins, Desmond Jackson and Peggy Cornish, both of Waco; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
