WEST POINT – O.C. Ivy, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1926, in Clay County to the late George and Janie Ross Ivy. He was a retired dock worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the American Legion Post 212. He was a member of Shady Grove Waverly Church, where he was a deacon and superintendent of the Sunday school.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shady Grove Waverly Church with the Rev. Sammie Hill officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Carter’s Mortuary Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include six sons, James Michael Ivy, Walter Carl Ivy, Charles Ivy, Glenn A. Ivy, Kevin D. Ivy and Robert Matthews; four daughters, Patricia Ivy, Vivian Cooperwood, Barbara Harris and Debra Lynn Ivy; a brother, Alfred Ivy; six sisters, Ester Shelton, Louise McCoy, Mable Griffin, Pearl Roads, Bessie Lane and Beatrice Lyles; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Glenn Ivy; his parents; two brothers, Augusta Ivy and Floizell Ivy; and a sister, Georgia Turner.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
