Alice Stucke (Irish) Allman

Alice (Irish) Stucke Allman, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at age 78. Alice was born May 18, 1933 in North East, Pa., the daughter of the late Raymond and Hattie (Vincent) Irish.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Paul D. Stucke and a brother, Harold R. Irish.

She moved to Erie at age four and resided there all her life. In her early years, she worked in retail sales and was a model for Hy Yaple on Channel 12. She became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Farrow Hospital and Clinic (later Metro Hospital).

Alice was very active in PTA, McDowell Boosters, the Erie County Election Board and Title IX, equal sports for girls. She volunteered for St. Paul's Neighborhood Free Clinic, Stairways and the House of Healing.

She was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Deacons, chairperson for the Prayer Chain for 14 years and was active in her craft group over the years making rice bags for the Regional Cancer Center.

She is survived by her husband, James A. Allman, daughters Kim M. Stucke and her fiancÚ Terry Witherow of Erie and Patricia A. Stucke of McKean, son, Timothy A. Stucke of Fairview, "adopted daughters" Sharon Riley, deceased and Jane Lewis of McKean, step daughters Deborah L. Robinson of Holland, Pa., Cheryl A. Evans of Newport News, Va. and Jill L. Tillman, of Bourbon, Ind., grandchildren Rachel Stucke, Karen Stucke and David Stucke, step grandchildren Cory Robinson, Ashley Evans, Melinda Tillman, Chelsea Tillman and Ira Tillman, sister Florence Joifrita and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Merle E. Wood Funeral Home, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday morning at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 1208 Asbury Road at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Haas and Rev. Keith Sundberg officiating.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
