Nellie Louisa Inman was born July 7, 1873 in Marble Rock, IA to Ephraim and Harriet Clay Inman. She never married. However, she adopted a little boy she named Richard Inman. He only lived to be four years old, and she is buried beside him in Marble Rock. When she lived in Minneapolis, she had a number of foster children residing in her home.
