The Ionia County News, Thursday, March 22, 1934

Mrs. Claude Carpenter, who has been in ill health for some time, passed away suddenly at her home Tuesday morning. Mrs. Carpenter had been about her household duties Monday, but was stricken with a heart attack about eight o'clock in the evening and became unconscious and remained in that condition until death came.

Deceased was a faithful member of the Lake Odessa Woman's club, Maccabes and Royal Neighbor Lodges and the M. E. Ladies Aid Society and was always ready and willing to help any project that was for the betterment of her village and community. She had been a resident of the village nearly 40 years and was held in high esteem.

Remaining relatives are the husband, two sons and five daughters. To them the sympathy of the whole community is extended. The funeral was held at the home Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. George Start officiated and burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
