Gaither Dale "Hutch" Hutcherson
Services for Gaither Dale "Hutch" Hutcherson, 71 yrs. old, of Dresden were at 3:00pm Saturday, March 9th at the Dresden First Baptist Church with burial in the Sunset Cemetery. Bowlin Funeral Home was in charge of services. Reverend Don McCulley officiated the services.
Mr. Hutcherson, vice president of Dresden Cable Company, and for 30 years was the owner of Hutcherson's Gulf Service Station, died Thursday, March 7th at Volunteer General Hospital.
He was active in the Dresden First Baptist Church and a member of Grove Hill Methodist Church. A World War 2 Navy Veteran, he had been an alderman since 1985, member of the American Legion Post 94, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elk No. 2373, and a lifetime member of the Dresden Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Smith Hutcherson, one daughter; Mrs. Phyllis Beth Parrott of Houston, Texas, one son; Richard Dale Hutcherson of Dresden, two sisters; Mrs. Lula Mae Shanklin of Latham, and Mrs. Ruby Faye Sherwood of Dresden, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were: Ted Kelley, Tom Call, Marion Riggs, Frank Shanklin, Mike Pentecost, and Ronnie Brundige. Honorary pallbearers were the Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church and the Dresden City Board Aldermen.
