Mary Gudenburr was born Caroline Elizabeth Huselton. She was raised as a Protestant. She married Peter J. Gudenburr, a Roman Catholic, and took the name of Mary when she was baptized Roman Catholic. Her parents and siblings broke off all ties to Mary after her conversion. Prior to her death, she had a vision of the Catholic Saint Theresa, who instructed her on reuniting with her family, in an upcoming wedding. Mary went to the wedding and the family accepted her once again into their lives. Mary soon passed away, with a vision of St. Theresa at her side. Mary and John were the parents of 14 children, 12 who lived to adulthood. There is no headstone to mark the Gudenburr plot.
