WHITEHALL — Rosemary Brooks, 86, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at The Orchards Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Granville.
Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Brown) Hurley.
On Oct. 9, 1948, she married Alphonse Brooks, who passed away Feb. 2, 2000.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Jean Seymour, Laura Steves, Raymond (Sonny) Hurley, Tom Hurley and John Hurley.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Denno and her husband, Dan; two sons, Angelo Brooks and his wife, Donna, and Robert Brooks; grandchildren, Danielle Shaw and her husband, Mike, Michelle Lafasciano and her husband, Andy, A. Troy Brooks, Christopher Brooks and his wife, Michelle, Toni Sue Hilder and her husband, Mike, Lily Brooks and Nolan Brooks; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Gianna, Andrew, Anthony, Derek, Ryan, Hayden, Zachery, Dustin, Marley and Autumn; and her siblings, Margie Moore, Jackie Love, Betty DeLuca, Joan Tracey, Mary Archambeault and Harold Hurley.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Street, Skene Street, Whitehall, N.Y., with the Rev. Rendell Torres, pastor, officiating.
Following the Mass, interment will be at 1 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Saratoga, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation in Rosemary's memory to The Orchards Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, c/o Activity Committee, 10421 state Route 40, Granville, NY 12832.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on A wing at The Orchards for its compassion and love shown to Rosemary during those five years, and especially her niece, Kathy Rozell, and her granddaughter, Michelle Brooks.
