Elizabeth (Betty) Hurd Farr was an ecumenical minister at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Bay Village and had been active for many years in Catholic Diocese work to feed the hungry and elderly of Cleveland's inner city.

She also was an active member, along with her husband, in the United States Power Squadron.

Mrs. Farr, 71, died yesterday in Lakewood Hospital. She had been suffering from a heart ailment, her husband said.

Nearly 30 years ago, Mrs. Farr learned that the Heinen's Inc. supermarket in Bay Village routinely burned day-old bread and pastries that had not been sold. She contacted the Heinen family and arranged to pick up the bread and baked goods daily and distribute them in the Hough area. She personally continued this for years.

Mrs. Farr and her husband, Vice Commander Arthur H. Farr, recently observed their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Farr was born in Lakewood, daughter of the late Judge Joy Seth Hurd of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and the Ohio Court of Appeals (8th District) and Frances Hurd. She lived in Bay Village until she moved recently to Sarasota, Fla.

Survivors, beside her husband, include daughters, Denise Marie Ziebro of Cleveland, Dianne Louise Knittle of Rochester N.Y., Joyce Lizette Ziebro of Cleveland, Nancy Wightman Benigni of Lititz, Pa.; a son, Arthur H. Farr Jr. of Vail, Colo.; and 20 grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Church, 525 Dover Center Rd., Bay Village.
