Russell Leon Hunsaker, 34, of Payson, Utah, died quietly at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, September 24, 1998 of complications from diabetes. He was born October 31, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was the son of William Leon and Darlie Christiansen Hunsaker. He married the love of his life, Melanie Bingham September 9, 1983 in Pleasant Grove. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He attended Orem High School. Russ struggled most of his life with diabetes. He worked in several jobs. He drove a wrecker for Enterprise Towing for several years, worked for UDOT for several years painting roads throughout the state, worked in several printing plants in Utah and Arizona and was trained and worked in the Dialysis center at UVRMC until poor health caused him to quit. Most of his friends will remember him as the clerk at the Walkers service station in Orem, where he greeted everyone with his contagious smile. When Russ got so disabled that he could not work anymore, Walker employees were instrumental in helping him and his family by raising funds to off-set the mounting medical bills that the family incurred. His family thanks them for their caring and help. Anyone who met Russ and got to know him always trying to help someone other than himself. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Russ' son David for the constant loving care and concern he has shown for his dad during these many difficult years when Russ was struggling so much with his health. He was always there for his dad, and has been such a great son. Thanks David!
Russ is survived by his wife Melanie and son David of Payson; two sisters: Lynette (John) Taylor of Payson and Jennifer (Paul) Schnabel of Provo; his parents of Orem, 34 nieces and nephews and 17 uncles and aunts and hundreds of cousins.
