Betty Jane Donat
Betty Jane Donat, 82, of Lincoln City, Ore., died Aug. 26, 2012 at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital in Lincoln City. She had been a resident of Lincoln City since 1996.
She was born June 20, 1930, the only child of Jesse O. and M. Jane (Lallatin) Humphreys at Dingle, Bear Lake, Idaho.
She worked as a mortgage and escrow officer, as a loan officer, and in realty and property management in the Seattle area for several years. She had also worked in retail merchandising and as a dental assistant in earlier years in Idaho.
Barbershop music played an integral part of her life. She co-founded the Sweet Adelines Chapter in Lewiston, Idaho in the ‘70s. She competed as a member of the Redmond (Washington) Eagle's Women's Pool Team and was a past president of the Women's Auxiliary. She was a member of the Elks Club and the VFW in Bellevue, Wash. She received the "Unsung Hero" award from the Women's Professional Business Association of Seattle in the ‘80s. She was nominated by the tenants of one of the HUD Housing Units she managed at that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and M. Jane Humphreys; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by five children, Lee (Terri) Gilbert of Lapwai, Idaho, Janey (Leslie) Cook of Blackfoot, Idaho, Mike (Sheila) Donat of Lenore, Idaho, Ann Donat and David Donat of Lincoln City; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. She will be interred at Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho at a later date.
