He was a son of the late Lloyd and Ruth Rudisill Humbert.
Dr. Humbert was a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Littlestown. He was a faculty member at Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey, from 1958 to 1996. Dr. Humbert was a 1954 graduate of Gettysburg College and received a masters degree in philosophy in 1956 and a Ph.D. in 1959 from Yale University.
He was the husband of Elisabeth Henning Humbert for 43 years and surviving, in addition to her, are three children, Heike Salotti, Philip Humbert, and Nicole Prevedel; and two grandchildren.
Interment was in Grace Reform Cemetery, Taneytown.
