Betty B .Hughes, 85, of Fleetwood passed away in the warm embrace of her loving family on Monday morning August 25, 2014. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Hughes who preceded her on May 18, 2011. Born in Richmond Township on January 18, 1929. Betty was the daughter of the late Robert K. Snyder and Sarah M. (Phillips) Snyder. Betty was a 1947 graduate of Fleetwood High School followed by graduating from Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She had been employed by Norristown State Hospital for three years; Lutheran Home in Topton five years and retiring in 1995 from Berks Visiting Nurses. Betty is survived by six children David A. Hughes husband of Dee Hughes of Douglas, Wyoming; Robert S. Hughes husband of Julie Hughes of Kennett Square; Brian R. Hughes husband of Lisa Hughes of Leesport; Linda J. (Hughes) Ebeling of Fleetwood; Barbara E. (Hughes) wife of Thomas Furry of Sinking Spring and Kathryn A. (Hughes) wife of the late Richard Kwiatkowski, Ormond Beach, Florida. Other survivors include grandchildren: Thomas Hughes III, Eric Furry, Matt Furry, Tracy Heffner, Tammy Keeney, Angie Plett, David Hughes, Jr., Jenny Hughes, Kerry Kwiatkowski, Evan Hughes, Cory Hughes, Samantha Hughes and Mallory Rowley. Also sixteen great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her son Thomas J. Hughes, Jr. in 2007. Also her brothers Curtis O. Snyder in 2001 and Leroy R. Yoder in 1991. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Mae A. Stump Funeral Home, Inc., 117 West Main Street, Fleetwood. A viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to time of service. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Union Cemetery, Fleetwood.
