GREENSBORO - Vera Ann Huffines Harris, 70, of 5876 Old Randleman Road, passed peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2008, secure in the knowledge that she would be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By her side, as he has been for the past nine months of her illness, was her husband of 51 years, Herbert O. Harris, Jr.

A service celebrating Ann's life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 29, atRehobeth Methodist Church.
Ann's passions outside of her family included traveling, playing cards, raising goats, and sharing God's love through prayer, missions, and volunteer work.

Ann was a faithful servant to the work and gifts that God entrusted to her. The most precious of these gifts were her four sons, Herbert O. Harris III, Henry Bruce Harris, and Joseph B. Harris of Greensboro, and Samuel Layne Harris of Myrtle Beach. After raising her four sons with Herb, the boys multiplied her blessing with three daughters-in-law, Terri McGee, Abbie French Harris, and Martha Venable Harris; and 12 grandchildren, Jordyn Harris, Brittany Harris, Hannah Voltz, Josh Milloway, Richard Voltz, Daniel Harris, Alexandra Harris, Anna Harris, Ryan Harris, Joni Harris, Mary Harris, and Gabriel Harris, all of whom are loved dearly by their "Nannie" and "Paw Paw".

In addition to her husband, children, and grand-children, those left to cherish the memory of Ann's beautiful life are her two brothers, Steve and Ray Huffines; her compassionate sister, Meg Huffines Carlson; six half-brothers, Robert, Jay, and Howard Huffines and Bill, Sam "Buddy" and James Atkins, and her half-sister, Sue Huffines Felton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Garland Huffines, and her half-brother, Gary Huffines, both of Durham, N.C., and her mother, Margaret Huffines Atkins of Greensboro.
