Services for Alvin F. "Buddy" Huff, 83, of Natchez, who died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cliff Temple Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Huff and Don Womble officiating.

Burial will be at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Huff was born July 20, 1916, in Bude, the son of Albert Fletcher and Martha Suzanne Westbrook Huff.

He was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church, where he served on the Building Committee and Board of Trustees. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of the Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi, Grand Lodge of Mississippi Wahabi Temple and Order of the Eastern Star.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre in World War II and served as a navel recruiter and instructor for the Naval Reserve.

Mr. Huff was a builder and Master Craftsman for many years, serving as business agent for local carpenters and joiners unions. He was also building superintendent for International Paper addition and for R.A. Edgin Construction. He was an industrial electrician, working both offshore and locally. He retired in 1978.

Mr. Huff was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lillian Doris "Dotty" Stewart Huff; two brothers, Jessie Huff and Bob Huff; and three sisters, Verna Mae Rowland, Alma Houck and Myra Gilley.

Survivors include his wife, Winnie Huff of Amite County; two sons, John Charles Huff of Miami, Fla., and Vernon Terrell and wife Brenda Huff of Natchez; three daughters and their husbands, Patricia Anne and Howard Cater of Natchez, Cissy and Jeffrey Wisner of Natchez, Margaret Pricilla and Darrell Smith of Stanford, Mont.; 13 grandchildren, Shannon Hardee, Kele Huff, Michael Huff, John Smith, Paul Smith, Michelle Thompson, Buddy Cater, Rachel Windham, Rebekah Cater, Jason Wisner, Stewart Wisner, Jeremy Wallace and Katie Huff; six great-grandchildren, Kirsten and John Michael Smith, Summer Thompson, Lauren Windham, Stephanie Thompson and Jacob Huff; one great-great-grandchild, Zachary Baker; three stepchildren, Leonard and Larry Whittington and Barbara Whitehead; and a number of stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Smith, Paul Smith, Michael Huff, Buddy Cater, Jason Wisner, Stewart Wisner and Jeremy Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Harmony Lodge.

The family request memorials be made to Shriners Hospital or Natchez Children's Home.
