Ruby Faye Hudson Griffin, 96, of Hewitt, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Connally/ Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Ruby was born the daughter of John and Imogene Johnson Hudson on June 18, 1910, in Hamlin, Texas. She married John Arlin Griffin on April 28, 1928, in Hamlin, Texas. They owned and operated the Woodway Grocery. Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church Hewitt, the Martha Grace Sunday School Class and the LLL Club there. She loved to travel and had a great time wherever she went. Preceding Ruby in death were her husband of 55 years, John Arlin Griffin, on June 16, 1983; sons-in-law, Lee Hastings and Bobby Auberry; grandson, Freddy "Ray" Griffin Jr.; great-grandson, Jacob Constable; three brothers; and two sisters. Those left behind to cherish her memory are sons, Freddy Griffin and wife, Joyce of Lorena, Richard Griffin and wife, Bobi of China Spring, and Cecil Griffin and wife, Dale of Eddy; daughters, Johnnie Hastings of Hamlin, Juanita Auberry of Crowley, JoRetta Bryan and husband, James of Houston and Eula "Jean" Chapman and husband, Bobby of Lorena; brother, John Hudson of Hamlin; sisters, Mabel Morrison of Lometa, Pauline Wright of Fort Worth, Dorothy Hastings of Hamlin, and Doris Walraven and husband, J.V. of Abilene; sisters-in-law, Pat Griffin, Earline Dorman and Clara Griffin; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jimmy Hastings, Richard H. Griffin, Bobby Auberry, Randy Griffin, Ronny Griffin, Rod Griffin, David Griffin, Darren Griffin and Paul Ray Hastings. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters, Sharon Ford, Vicki Hobbs, Pam Hannes, Brenda Boyd, Traci Martin, Debbie Ginn, Wendy Jamison, Cathy Britton, Becky Levy, Suzanne Levy, Cindy Constable and Melanie Edwards.
