Memorial services for Alex D. Hudson Jr., a retired partner in the Dallas real estate firm Hudson & Hudson, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Dallas. A private burial will be at Restland Cemetery.
Hudson, 76, died Tuesday morning at Baylor Medical Center after a brief illness.
Hudson was born in Newberry, S.C., and moved to Dallas in 1917. He attended North Dallas High School; Bingham Military Academy in Ashville, N.C.; Bailey Military Institute in Greenwood, S.C.; and the University of Texas.
He became a partner in Hudson & Hudson in 1946. The firm, which has been in operation in Dallas for more than 50 years, specializes in sale and leasing of commercial and industrial land and property, relatives said.
Hudson was a director of the Dallas Board of Realtors, Dallas Executives Association and Bankers Life Insurance Co. He was a longtime member and director of the Salesmanship Club and worked as a fund-raiser on a number of hospital campaign drives.
Hudson was a member and president of the Dallas Club and had memberships in the Chaparral Club, Northwood Country Club and the Ferndale Fishing Club. He also was a deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Christian Hudson; sons, Alex D. Hudson III of Albuquerque, N.M., and William C. Hudson of Grapevine; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Frances Norsworthy of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Oliver C. Anderson of Dallas; brothers, James S. Hudson of Dallas and Thomas C. Hudson of Aptos, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
