Husband First of Virginia Lee (Howser) and
Second to Emma Henry (Campbell).

Father of Four children.

To the south of the post office (in the picture) was Hubbard's. Mr. Hubbard operated the local mortuary. In the same building he used sawdust to cover ice that was manufactured in Farmville and sold in the summer. To the rear of Hubbard's was a blacksmith's shop.

Robert Lee Hubbard, 90 of Prospect, Va died Saturday. Mar. 7, at Southside Convelescent Home in Blackstone. He had been in ill health for a number of years.
Mr. Hubbard, the son of Samuel and Annie Miller Hubbard, was born in Appomattox county, near Hixburg, on November 18, 1864. He became a wheelwright by trade and in early manhood he moved to Prospect where he plied his trade and added a general merchandise business. For a number of years he was a funeral director and in 1935 with his son-in-law, Jesse C. Collins, founded the firm of Hubbard & Collins in Prospect and a year later Collins & Hubbard in Farmville. In his early days he was also a bridge builder and built many of the early bridges in this section. He retired from active business in 1940.
He was a life-long member of Prospect Methodist Church and teacher of the Men's Bible class for over 30 years.
Mr. Hubbard was twice married, first to Miss Virginia Howser of Salem, Va., of which marriage three daughters survive, Mrs. George W. Coleman, of Crewe, Va.; Mrs. Florence W. Dupuy, of Farmville and Mrs. J. V. Lewis, of Prospect, Va. His second wife was Miss Emma Campbell, of Prospect, whom he married in 1900. He is also survived by a foster brother, R. S. Hubbard, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Funeral services were conducted at Collins & Hubbard Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. J. C. Weaver, pastor of Prospect Methodist Church. Interment was in the Methodist Church cemetery at Prospect, Va.
