Jennifer Ann Howard, 25, a native of Tyler, Texas, until 6 months of age and a resident of Morgan City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident at 1:50 a.m. on I-64 in Norfolk, Va., while traveling home from work. She was born on Aug. 2, 1982.

She is survived by her father, Pascal M. Howard Esq., and her mother, Janet Ann Dragna Howard of Morgan City; brother, Timothy M. Howard of Morgan City; grandfather, Matt A. Dragna of Morgan City; uncles, Robert Howard and his children of Wewoka, Okla., John C. Howard and his wife, Carolyn, and their children of Edmond, Okla., Lee Howard and his wife, Carole, and their children of Oklahoma City, Margaret A. Howard Snyder and her husband, Dr. David Snyder, and their children of Edmond, Barbara Howard Griggs and her children of Yukon, Okla., Joan Howard Imes and her husband, John Imes, and their children of Oklahoma City, James "Jamie" Howard and his wife, Tracy, and their children of Norman, Okla., Philip Howard and his wife, Jane, of Wewoka, John Pierce and his wife, Dorthy, and Barbara Pierce, all of Hot Springs, Ark., Anita A. Dragna Stanley and her husband, Herb, of Morgan City, and Celeste A. Dragna of Lafayette; and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Margaret Howard, who were of Wewoka; grandmother, Hazel Landry Dragna; two aunts, Mary J. Howard, who was of Oklahoma City and Christine Dragna, who was of Morgan City; and an uncle, Andrea Dragna, who was of Morgan City.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served her country in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was assigned to the USS Iwo Jima. Her dates of service were from 2001 to 2006, after which she was honorably discharged. Jennifer attended Central Catholic High School in Morgan City, where she graduated in 2000, and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City. She was an avid pool player and a member of the pool club. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing. She also loved music and traveling. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives were made better by knowing this wonderful young lady.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Boudreaux, Jeremy Howard, James Howard, Kyle Kiker, John Howard and Philip Howard. Honorary pallbearers are Lance Burgos, Lonny Burgos, Arlo Burgos, Lance Snyder, Matt Dragna, Lee Dragna, Adam Dragna and Matt Adams.

A time of remembrance and reflection will be observed Friday, Aug. 17, at Hargrave Funeral Home in Morgan City from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday, Aug. 18, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City from 8 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Danny Porché.

She will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. The East St. Mary Parish Veteran's Funeral Squad will conduct military honors in honor of their fallen comrade.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Research Military Honors.
