Marion Hovey was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Hovey and Lydia Lines/Lynes who are buried in Plainfield, Iowa Cemetery. She was born 6 February 1841 at East Randolph, Cattaraugus Co. NY. Marion married Barney R. Horton on Dec. 25, 1859, in Polk Twp.,Bremer County, Iowa. They had one child, Jessie Ophelia Horton, who was born 5 October 1860 near Plainfield, Bremer Co. Iowa. Barney Horton died of disease on the transport ship "Diadem" on the Mississippi River on May 30, 1864. [Barney's death is recorded on that date in the diary of Captain Otis Whitney, Co. H, 27th Iowa. One record says Barney died May 31, 1864, but official records and diary give May 30, 1864, as his date of death.] Marion next married John McCormack on 22 Feb 1865 at Bremer County, IA. They had one child, Kit/Kate. They divorced 22 January 1868. She married a third time to Charles T. Bromley on 16 Dec 1869 in Fremont Twp., Butler Co. IA. They had two children, Fannie and Walter. Charles T. Bromley died 18 March 1914 at Nashua, Iowa. Marion died at Nashua, Iowa, on 6 December 1924.
