The funeral for Dorothy Mae Houston Brooks, 76, of Martinsville, who died Dec. 18, 2008, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Bassett chapel. The Rev. J.D. Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in the Huston family cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Brooks was born in Franklin County on April 2, 1932, to Albert Lester Huston and Cora Evelyn Robertson Huston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James L. Brooks; a sister, Frances Hutchinson; three brothers, Adron Huston, Willie Houston and Gordon Houston; and one great-grandchild, Justin Scott Telles.

She retired in 1991 from DuPont with 41 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are three daughters, Cathie Law of Martinsville, JoAnn Rakes of Bassett and Donna Brim of Bassett; three sisters, Shirley Woody and Helen Scott, both of Rocky Mount, and Doris Atkins of Agoura Hills, Calif.; three brothers, Ira "Bill" Huston and Cecil Huston, both of Rocky Mount, and Curtis "Bob" Huston of Martinsville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
