In Memoriam
Mrs. Robert Tarpley
On February 9, 1940, just as our Master sent the first rays of dawn to awake all sleeping life and quiet the cold restless night, He looked down on the tired weak spirit of a precious young life, which had blossomed its loveliest " House and Tarpley households" but whose beauty and fragrance never being confined to the home gardens had drifted like waves of sunshine into the lives of all who shared her presence and said, "Tis finished-- Thy victory is won!" Then with a loving Fatherly hand He gently and quietly folded the petals of Mrs. Robert Tarpley's earthly life, transplanting it to His Heavenly Garden where in the sunlight of His love it could blossom forever.
Such was the triumphant home-going of Mrs. Aubra Tarpley wife of Robert Tarpley of Elwood, and daughter of Rev. and Mrs. J. E. House of Lyons. Aubra's earthly voyage of thirty-two years was filled with loving thoughtful sacrificial service for her Master, her loved ones, friends and neighbors. The sixteen years of her married life were spent at Elwood where she and Robert lived happily in a modest little home which radiated with the light of warmth of loyal devotion and loving companionship.
Many are the neighbors, friends and loved ones who shared the friendly hospitality and enjoyed the congenial atmosphere and sympathetic understanding which were never lacking in Aubra's and Robert's home.
Until God tenderly called her into membership with His Heavenly church on High, Aubra had been a consecrated member of the Methodist church since early childhood, serving with that patient loyal devotion with was so characteristic of her sweet unselfish dispostion.
He life, though untimely as it seems, was truly great. Great because of the beautiful sacrificial service cheerfully rendered in a quiet unassuming manner, the sweet fragrance from so beautiful a blossom will ever linger with us!-- So may I join the broken hearted husband, Mother, Father, Brother, and Sisters in saying:
Dim is the sunshine, sad and dreary
the days,
emptiness and loneliness everywhere,
Oh; we miss our Aubra in so man
ways
Since God in His wisdom has seen fir
to call her to dwell with him above
Where cometh no disappointment nor
pain
Only happiness, contentment, joy and
love
Our Darling now lives with Saints on
High,
tis but our Lord's command;
She's happy in that fair land
At the pearly gate Aubra'll watch
and wait
For Husband, Mother, Father, all
To come in summons to the Savior's
call
And even tho God's plan we cannot
understand
His wisdom we never should doubt,
So may we march on to that land
Where with Aubra at home we'll be
For in that city filled with mirth
God is constantly transplanting the
fairest flowers of earth,
One who loved and appreciated her.
