Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 31, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL.
The family wishes all donations go to the Decatur Memorial Hospice Organization.
Ardith was born May 31, 1918 in Sandwich, Illinois to parents Emerson and Mina Wittie Lawhorn. While growing up in Sandwich, she met Wilbert “Swede” Horve. They were married in Geneva, Illinois on September 7, 1935 and moved to Decatur. They had two sons.
Ardith was a homemaker and loved taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Wilbert used to take them on trips to Turkey Run, Six Flags, Old Chicago and Joy Land as well as camping and fishing. She was the Matriarch of the family and loved planning reunions and family gatherings. At 92, she was still mowing her own lawn and taking care of her house. If she had one hobby in life it was shopping.
She was loved by six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren for a total of 29 grandchildren. She was also loved by five nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sons, Bill Horve and wife Regina, and Edward “Cookie” Horve, all of Decatur. Sister, Betty O’Dell and husband Merlin of Winchester, Virginia. Grandchildren, Jimmy Horve, Mike Horve, Nicole Horve, Pat Horve, and Paul Horve, all of Decatur.
Preceding her in death were her husband Wilbert Horve, brother Emerson Lawhorn, daughter-in-law Margaret Horve, and grandson Captain Bill Horve (Decatur Fire Dept).
