John Dan “Shug” Horton, 87, of Camden, S.C. and formerly of Florence, S.C., widower of Elizabeth Kearse Horton died Monday, March 20, 2017, at his home. Born in Bethune, S.C., he was a son of the late Wade Copeland and Maggie Jones Horton. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Mr. Horton was a graduate of Newberry College where he played baseball and later played with several minor leagues. He was proud to be a left handed pitcher and only lost one game during his collegiate career. He also was a US Army veteran and loved to play golf.
